Catalyst is a network who help charities and their teams improve their digital skills and implement new, more efficient ways of working digitally. They commissioned a new website to expand their reach and to showcase their digital services.

Project Outline

The aim of this project was to increase awareness and understanding of what Catalyst is and what it does. A UI/UX process took place to establish user needs and their understanding of Catalyst. Ultimately, to improve access to the resources available and for charities to seek the best help from the right professionals.

Key Objectives

  • Promote a better understanding of Catalyst.
  • Improve navigation and make services and resources more accessible.
  • Establish personas and identify their specific needs.
  • Create designs and prototypes - incorporating a new illustration style commissioned externally.
  • User testing and accessibility checks.
  • Build the site to the latest HTML and WCAG AA standards for accessibility.
  • Implement SEO recommendations to improve visiblity across the web.

Deliverables

User research was conducted to identify specific personas: funders, network convenors, agencies and infrastructure organisations. From these personas, interviews and A/B testing highlighted user needs and key areas where the old website was not performing well enough. This resulted in the following deliverables:

  • User journeys based on a multitude of scenarios.
  • Wireframes based on the most common user journeys.
  • Fully navigable design prototye.
  • User testing.
  • Design amendments based on user feedback and accessibility testing.
  • Build of a responsive, content-managed website, adhering to the latest HTML and WCAG AA standards.
